The associate committee provides a space for designers to grow, connect, and lead by expanding their creative network and contributing to design initiatives. The challenge was to create a visual concept that would clearly establish these pillars of the associate’s initiatives while appealing to a design-literate audience and encouraging other designers and RGD members to join the associate committee to network and grow.
The concept for the “Shaping Emerging Designers” associate artwork communicates the committee’s mission to support and empower emerging designers through a bold and modern visual approach. The basis of the artwork utilises a striking colour contrast of the white headline against the stark black background, enhancing legibility and impact. The use of a simple sans-serif typography conveys clarity while the red RGD logo adds a pop of colour against the black background, directing the viewer's eye and reinforcing the association’s recognition. A collection of dynamic, looping 3D graphics is found throughout the design, connecting the copy to symbolize creativity, growth, and the evolving journey of a designer. Paired with additional subtle 3D geometric graphics, the visuals add depth and visual interest to the artwork without overwhelming the key message. To reinforce the keywords “growth,” “connect,” and “lead,” the words have been anchored to the top of the artwork, establishing them as clear pillars of the associate’s initiatives.
The overall layout of the concept is clean and direct, effectively appealing to its intended audience and encouraging engagement through the concise call to action at the bottom of the design.
